During the summer of 2024, I was approached by the folks who work with the Dutch heritage boosters about illustrating a children’s book. The book would feature the Century Home in Orange City with a story about a little mouse who goes on an adventure there with his Opa (Grandpa). I studied a variety of illustration styles and created numerous sketches before embarking on the journey to bring the characters (and the Century Home) to life. I greatly enjoy watercolor painting, so chose this as the medium to create the delicate imagery.
